Chef – Full-time – Leeds

Friends of Ham is an award-winning Bar & Charcuterie in Leeds City Centre. A buzzy Continental-style cafe bar that has recently opened a second venue in Ilkley.

Placing the emphasis on simplicity and quality, Friends of Ham showcases the very finest produce, specialising in charcuterie, cheese, beer and wine made by small artisan producers both locally and from further afield. We pride ourselves on great customer service and friendly, knowledgeable staff.

We are currently looking for a Chef at our Leeds site.

You must:

– Have at least 6 months experience preparing food in a busy restaurant/cafe/bar environment
– Have a love of quality/speciality food and drink
– Be enthusiastic and a have willingness to learn
– Be confident, methodical and organised with the ability to work quickly in a fast paced environment
– Ideally have food hygiene training

All our food is prepared in an open kitchen area meaning there is plenty of opportunity for customer interaction and while there are no cooking facilities as such, we are establishing an excellent reputation for the quality of our food.

The role will include the following:

– Setting up the kitchen, including the different stations
– Prepping for service – ensuring there is the right quantities of everything ready for a busy lunch and dinner service
– Maintaining the cleanliness of the kitchen
– Taking deliveries, stock management, rotation and maintaining accurate records
– Preparing customer meals quickly and to a high standard
– Serving customers, recommending dishes and drinks and generally enhancing the customer experience
– Full kitchen close down
– Food safety and hygiene compliance

Floor Staff – Leeds

We are currently looking for experienced, waiting and bar staff to join the team at our Leeds site. We are looking for people who can demonstrate the following:

– At least 1 years waiting and or bar tending experience in a busy restaurant environment
– A love of quality/speciality food and drink
– Enthusiasm and a willingness to learn
– Confident, methodical, organised with the ability to work quickly in a fast paced environment

An interest in craft beer and good food is essential for this role.

The below vacancies are for our new venture, Ham & Friends, opening this Spring.

Kitchen Staff

Do you have experience working in a busy kitchen?

Do you love working with the finest ingredients?

From the people behind Friends of Ham, Ham & Friends will bring a restaurant and wine bar as well as a wine shop, food hall and deli to Leeds’ vibrant Northern Quarter. Spread across two floors in the Grand Arcade, we’ll be serving up tasty dishes and pouring and selling a large range of small production, ethically produced wine. The food hall and deli promise a walk-in cheese room with loads of choice, and a charcuterie counter complete with meats, breads, fruit and vegetables. There’ll also be an event space where we’ll host an array of wine, beer and food tastings.

We are currently looking for chefs and food professionals to join our kitchen team.

Duties will include:

– Setting up and closing down the kitchen and prepping for service
– Taking deliveries, stock management, rotation and maintaining accurate records
– Preparing customer meals quickly and to a high and consistent standard
– Menu & Specials development
– Food Safety & Hygiene compliance

You must:

– Have experience working in a busy kitchen
– Excellent cooking skills
– An understanding of produce and ingredients
– The ability to help develop menus that are seasonal, creative and profitable
– Work well in a team
– Have high standards and attention to detail
– Food hygiene qualifications

This is a fantastic opportunity to work with extremely high quality ingredients in a new opening in the heart of Leeds’ vibrant Northern Quarter.
